Protests marr Bush visit
March 12, 2007
Bush visits Colombia on his five nation Latin American tour amid angry protests. Heavy security greeted President George W. Bush as he arrived in Colombia on Sunday (March 11) to show support to his closest ally in South America as it fights a decades-old insurgency and drug war.Bush is the first U.S. president to visit Bogota in 25 years. Other U.S. presidents have visited Colombia since Reagan, but have omitted Bogota on their itineraries because of security concerns.
