More aid and trade for Colombia
March 12, 2007
On his one-day visit to Colombia, U.S. President George W. Bush backs his ally and vows more aid and trade. Heavy security greeted President George W. Bush as he arrived in Colombia on Sunday (March 11) to show support to his closest ally in South America as it fights a decades-old insurgency and drug war.Bush is the first U.S. president to visit Bogota in 25 years. Other U.S. presidents have visited Colombia since Reagan, but have omitted Bogota on their itineraries because of security concerns.
