Nyman is the runner up

Just five hundredths of a second prevented Steve Nyman of Provo, Utah, from extending the four-year American winning streak at the Birds of Prey downhill in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Nyman was runner-up to Austria's downhill master Michael Walchhofer in a race marked by variable weather and a rollicking, come-from-behind run by Andrew Weibrecht of Lake Placid, N.Y.
