Four decades of French archaeology in Egypt

Karnak, the largest ancient religious site in the world, is both a popular tourist site and a rich exploratory ground for archaeologist still studying its treasures. This year marks the 40th anniversary of cooperation on excavation between French and Egyptian scientists -- an occasion for celebration, but also for re-apportioning power in favour of local experts.
