First regular train service crosses inter-Korean border

The first regular train service between the two Koreas for more than 50 years has crossed the heavily fortified border. It is the latest step in reconciliation efforts between the historic enemies. The daily freight service is the first tangible achievement of an inter-Korean summit between South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il in October, which agreed on a variety of sweeping projects to promote peace and economic engagement.
