Scrap thieves endanger lives

Authorities in the southwest city of Myslowice say every day thieves rip out telephone cables, railroad lights and signals costing millions of dollars and endangering lives. Last year a freight train crashed near Katowice after thieves stole bolts from the tracks and two years ago a four-year-old girl drowned after falling into a city drain whose cover was stolen.
