The local radio station which reported the claim also broadcast an interview with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) saying a decision was "imminent" on whether to take action against Zuma. Zuma's election to the top party job earlier this week means he would be the firm favourite to become South Africa's next president when Thabo Mbekli's term comes to an end in 2009. But Zuma would be politically ruined should he be tried and convicted for corruption. Zuma denies any wrongdoing.
