French immigration policy sends Moroccan student packing

Nicolas Sarkozy, France's interior minister who is running for president, has spearheaded a policy to increase the expulsion of illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin. 2006 saw a rise in the numbers of deportations, in spite of widespread protest against the break-up of families and the expulsion of children.
