Sarkozy gears up for mayoral race

French local elections in March will be a major test for Nicolas Sarkozy's ruling party. Its candidates across the country face a tough run against Socialist and centrist opponents, but nowhere else more so than in Paris, where the hugely popular incumbent, Bertrand Delanoe, has hit the campaign trail.
