UN to tighten Iran sanctions

Major powers are agreed on a resolution to hit Iran with new sanctions. A unanimous vote is expected at 1900 GMT. In December, the Security Council imposed limited sanctions on Tehran over its refusal to halt its uranium enrichment programme. Iran insists its nuclear activity is for purely peaceful purposes. But the West suspects it is using the civilian programme as a cover for development of nuclear weapons.
