Airbus record orders for 2007

But the European planemaker lost out in the race for new orders to its competitor Boeing for the second year in a row, in what Airbus CEO Thomas Enders described as a record year for both companies. Airbus, which is a subsidiary of European aerospace group EADS, says it's ahead of schedule with its Power8 cost-cutting and restructuring plan, although it has suffered from a weak dollar. The planemaker now predicts a drop in orders for 2008, but will be battling to make deliveries on time.Joanna Partridge reports for Reuters
