Iran says sanctions won't work
March 25, 2007
The U.N. Security Council imposed new arms and financial sanctions against Iran in response to the country's continued refusal to halt its uranium enrichment activities, which have sparked international fears that Tehran is actively pursuing nuclear weapons. Speaking after the Security Council vote late on Saturday, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said "pressure and intimidation" would not change Iranian policy, which Tehran insists is wholly for peaceful purposes.
