Olmert and Abbas agree to meet

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza announced the agreement at a news conference in Jerusalem after spending two days shuttling between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Rice also appealed to the Arab world to reach out to Israel. A day earlier, Arab states agreed to relaunch a five-year-old peace plan that offers Israel normal ties in return for a full withdrawal from land it occupied in the 1967 Middle East war.
