Violence against women in Ethiopia

The ordeal of 21-year-old Kamilat Mehedin, disfigured two months ago in an acid attack by a spurred suitor, has shocked Ethiopia. The country has no history of such an attack, and Kamilat's is an extreme case. But the Ethiopian Women Lawyers association says it highlights the increasing frequency of violence against women and the failure of the law to protect them. A report from Addis Ababa.
