Vaziri Equals Day-Old Record

Leila Vaziri of the United States equaled her own world record of 28.16 seconds to win the women's 50-meter backstroke final on Thursday. Vaziri matched the record she set in Wednesday's semifinals, which wiped 0.03 off the previous record of 28.19 set by Janine Pietsch of Germany in Berlin in 2005.
