Hicks convicted at Guantanamo
March 30, 2007
Australian David Hicks pled guilty of providing material support for terrorism before a Guantanamo Bay tribunal. The 31-year-old former farmhand is the first person to be convicted in revised military tribunals created by the U.S. Congress after the Supreme Court struck down an earlier version that President George W. Bush authorized to try foreign captives on terrorism charges.
