Merkel leads diplomatic flurry

German Chancellor Angela Merkel leads a flurry of diplomats across the middle east for talks on reviving the peace process. Merkel urged the new Palestinian unity government in Jordan to embrace Western demands it recognise Israel and renounce violence to revive Middle East peace talks. The Quartet of Middle East peace negotiators -- Russia, the United Nations, the European Union and the United States -- has called for those two conditions and the acceptance of existing peace accords.
