TURFING OUT THE POOR IN CAMBODIA'S LAND BATTLE

After decades of economic turmoil brought about by the brutal Khmer Rouge communist regime in the 1970s followed by civil war, Cambodia is showing the first signs of prosperity and a property boom is underway that surpasses anything else in Asia. Developers are snapping up large tracts of mostly government land, displacing hundreds of thousands of poor people nationwide. A handful of government ministers are profiting the most from land sales and allegedly blocking compensation attempts through the courts. A voiced report.
