Chinese police lock down in Lhasa
March 17, 2008
Tibet's prime minister-in-exile said Monday that around 100 people have died in unrest in the Chinese-ruled region, while the Tibetan parliament reported hundreds killed. Meanwhile, more deaths were announced by activists groups who said Chinese police opened fire on a monks' rally in southwest China. The unrest follows deadly protests against China's rule of the Himalayan region in Tibet's capital, Lhasa, last week.
