Surgeons save injured turtle
March 13, 2008
It's the first time such an operation has been carried out in Israel. The loggerhead turtle, named Tchompy by his handlers, was found washed up in the Holy Land after becoming ensnared in fishing line which completely severed one of his front fins and left the other partially attached. Vets at the Israeli Turtle Rescue Center treat dozens of sea turtles a year, most of them suffering from similar injuries caused by boat propellers, jet skis and fishing lines.Helen Long reports.Helen Long reports.
