April 12, 2007
Relatively unknown, the story of the modest Afghan kite-maker Noor Agha comes to life in the new film "The Kite Runner". The life story of Kabul's most famous kite-maker, who has been making kites for over 40 years, is depicted in an anticipated Hollywood film that will be released by the end of this year. The movie starts in 1970s Kabul and moves to California's Bay Area back to Afghanistan when it was ruled by the Taliban. It is based on the best-selling novel by Khaled Hosseini.
