Food fees hit international travel

United Airlines is the first U.S. air carrier to take away complimentary meal service to economy passengers on select international flights in a bid to offset fuel costs. On Wall Street, the Dow ended a choppy session with a gain of 68 points to 11,417. The S&P 500 climbed 7 points to 1,274. The Nasdaq rose 4 points to 2,389. Crude oil rose 45 cents to settle at $114.98 a barrel. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
