Yahoo, oil dent rally

U.S. stocks posted modest gains on Thursday after a rebound in oil prices and a sell-off in Yahoo shares offset gains sparked by a strong retail report. The Dow rose 5 points to 12,141. The S&P500 climbed 4 points to 1,339. The Nasdaq rose 10 points to 2,404. Crude oil settled at $136.74 a barrel.
