Le Pen shows his hand
May 01, 2007
Extreme right-winger Jean-Marie Le Pen on Tuesday called on his supporters to abstain en masse from voting in France's presidential election run-off. Le Pen, who suffered his worst defeat for years in the first round last month, said neither socialist candidate Segolene Royal nor conservative contender Nicolas Sarkozy deserved the support of the 3.8 million voters who backed him in the first round of voting. The National Front leader was speaking at the party's traditional May Day rally. Images and soundbites.
