Hundreds arrested in Turkey protest

Turkish authorities will be watching to see if the protest turns against the ruling AK Party following a mass demonstration in Istanbul two days ago. Turkish financial markets recorded their biggest falls in a year on Monday and the lira currency extended its losses on Tuesday. Markets have been rattled by the armed forces' threat last week to intervene in the presidential election process.
