Massive anti-government protest in Thailand

Thousands of people surrounded the compound of Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej on Friday and demanded that he resign. The protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) accuse Samak of acting as a proxy for ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was toppled by royalist generals in a 2006 coup.
