Bush vetoes Iraq spending bill

As expected President Bush vetoed the Iraq funding bill that included deadlines for troop withdrawals. The Democratic-controlled Congress, ignoring veto threats and attempting to gain the upper hand on the Iraq war, sent Bush legislation to begin withdrawing U.S. combat troops this year.
