China told to tighten Olympic doping
October 11, 2006
Pound was in Beijing to hear from scientists in the China Doping Control Center regarding the country's efforts in upgrading its anti-doping laboratory ahead of an expected heavy work load during the Olympics 2008. After visiting the lab and talking with scientists, Mr. Pound expressed his satisfaction with the equipment and ongoing research there, but he also indicated that major improvement is needed. China is ready to expand the laboratory with more scientists and equipment in order to obtain a full accreditation from WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency.
