Gun battle in Kashmir

Indian police have shot dead two Islamic militants holed up in a hotel in the heart of Kashmir's main city after a 20-hour gunbattle, police and witnesses said. Three policemen were killed and 12 people wounded -- including eight other policemen -- when a group of militants lobbed a grenade at a security camp and then entered a hotel building opposite and began firing at the base a day earlier.
