Clamour over al Qaeda death report

Speculation over the fate of Ayyub al-Masri was fueled by an unnamed Iraqi government source, who claimed the al Qaeda leader had been killed in a US military strike on a house in Haditha in Western Iraq. Masri's predecessor, Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was killed in a similar U.S. airstrike in June.
