North Korea holds nuclear test

North Korea's Central News Agency said "Our science research section has safely and successfully conducted an underground nuclear test. It added that there was no leak or danger from the test. South Korea's presidential Blue House said a tremor had been detected in North Korea. China got a 20 minute warning of the test and immediately told the U.S. Japan and South Korea. South Korea's joint chiefs of staff have ordered all army units to step upthe level of alert but U.S. defence officials say they cannot confirm the nuclear test has happened.
