Germany raids anti-G8 groups

The prosecutor's office said around 900 security officials were searching 40 sites in six states in northern Germany, on suspicions left-wing militants would target next month's Group of Eight (G8) meeting. The G8 summit brings together eight of the world's leading industrialised nations to discuss global issues ranging from trade and economic development to poverty and the environment. It will be held in the northern German coastal resort of Heiligendamm at the start of June.
