Blair to step down on June 27

Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair announces that he will leave office on June the 27th. Blair broke the news in a speech in his constituency in Sedgefield. His resignation triggers a contest for the leadership of the ruling Labour Party, in which finance minister Gordon Brown is clear favourite.
