Israeli President may face rape charge

The 60-year-old Katsav didn't preside over the opening of parliament's winter session amid growing calls for his resignation. The charges facing him would be the most serious criminal counts brought against a serving Israeli official. A previous president and several prime ministers have been suspected of financial misdeeds, and a former defense minister was convicted of sexual harassment.
