Controversial 'purity' dance

As they do every year, thousands of young Zulu women have converged on the Enyokeni Royal Palace in northern KwaZulu-Natal for the reed dance. The ceremony is steeped in controversy. Participants pledged to continue having their virginity tested, in defiance of the South African government's moves to ban the traditional Zulu practice.
