Freed French hostage arrives from Afghanistan
May 12, 2007
A French aid worker freed by the Taliban after 38 days as a hostage in Afghanistan arrived back in France early Saturday. Eric Damfreville, looking feeble and unsteady, said he had been well-treated by his captors. He was greeted upon arrival at an airport outside Paris by Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy and Antoine Vuillaume, the head of the aid group Terre d'Enfance (A World for Our Children) for which he works. Images and soundbites of Damfreville's arrival arrival on the tarmac of Villacoublay airport outside Paris.
