Gaza truce breaks down
May 14, 2007
Renewed fighting in the Gaza Strip between rival Palestinian factions has left two dead hours after an Egyptian-mediated truce... Sources in President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction said tensions were so great with Hamas, its power-sharing partner, that their unity government could collapse within days if the bloodshed did not stop. At least seven Palestinians have been killed since a new round of clashes erupted over the weekend. Egyptian-mediators brokered a truce late on Sunday, which broke down within hours.
