Clooney's mission to save Sudan

The Academy Award winning actor and director told UN Security Council members millions would die in the Darfur region of Sudan if the UN failed to act now. But the Sudanese President, Omar Hassan al-Bashir is fending off intense international pressure for him to accept UN peace keepers in Darfur. It's understood Khartoum would be prepared to allow the African Union peacekeepers presently there to extend their mission, which is due to finish at the end of September.
