Iraq death toll questions
September 13, 2006
U.S. officials have admitted their claims of a falling murder rate were based on selective statistics, ignoring daily bomb attacks. And a report by military intelligence has concluded there's nothing the U.S. can do to improve security in the most violent province, to the west of Baghdad. Death squads have killed up to 60 people in Baghdad in the past 24 hours, dumping their bodies across the Iraqi capital. And in separate attacks this morning, two car bombs have killed another 22 people in rush hour traffic and injured scores more.
