Zuma 'not in presidential race'
September 23, 2006
Jacob Zuma has denied the widespread belief he has renewed his campaign to become the country's next president. Corruption charges against the former deputy president were thrown out of court this week. Trade unionists, communists and many rank and file members of the ruling African National Congress, want Zuma him to replace Thabo Mbeki as South Africa's president in 2009. He says he's not campaigning for the top job, but he did say he would consider it if the ANC asked him to stand for its leadership.
