The credit crunch is biting hard. But two French authors are making light of a gloomy situation, with the introduction of a comic book on the life and times of Societe Generale's rogue trader, Jerome Kerviel. The comic follows the fall from grace of Kerviel, a junior trader who nearly brought down French bank Societe Generale and caused mayhem in world markets. Kerviel was freed from prison in March after an appeal against his detention, but he remains under formal investigation for breach of trust, computer abuse and falsification. SocGen reports say Kerviel bypassed risk control systems to build up a trading position worth 50 billion euros, around 73 billion U.S. dollars, more than SocGen's own market capitalisation.
