Gaza: pressure mounts for truce

Israeli tanks and troops continue to mass on border with Gaza but hostilities lessen as foreign powers call for a halt. Israel's fierce offensive against Hamas Islamists appeared to have tapered off with only two air strikes carried out on the Gaza Strip. Protesters angry at Israel's bombardment of Gaza have held demonstrations in Washington, DC, New York and Jakarta, Indonesia.
