Iraqi shoe thrower on trial

The trial of the Iraqi shoe-throwing reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi, due to begin Thursday (February 19, 2009) is adjourned. If al-Zaidi is found guilty of the offence he will face up to 15 years in prison. In December (2008) the Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at George W. Bush calling him a dog. He has been in prison since the incident, his family say that he has been tortured whilst in detention. The trial is now due to begin on March 12, 2009.
