Russian officials are due to meet on Friday to discuss alleged breaches of environmental regulations at the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project. Royal Dutch Shell and operator Sakhalin Energy say any ecological problems over the construction of new terminals and pipelines have been dealt with. Analysts suspect the Kremlin harbours more political motives for its sudden concern.
