Auto bailout hopes renewed

Wall Street rallied into the close on hopes the White House will use TARP funds to rescue the ailing U.S. auto industry. The Dow climbed 64 points to 8,629. The S&P 500 gained 6 points to 879. The Nasdaq rose 32 points to 1,540. Oil prices fell to $46.28 a barrel. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
