January 13, 2009
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - Street artist Shepard Fairey talks about the unexpected huge success of his collage painting of president-elect Barack Obama, which had been acquired by the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery to hang alongside word-famous portraits of American presidents. He told (with a certain amount of glee) that his poster is out-selling Marie Osmond's dolls on QVC. The artist was speaking at a press conference for the charity "Adopt a Pet", for whom he has a created a poster in the style of his now iconic Obama poster. (January 8, 2009)
