Business Update: Nasdaq up 4%

U.S. stocks rallied for the fifth time in six sessions and oil closed at its highest of the year with investors encouraged by a surprise jump in U.S. housing starts. The Dow jumped 178 points to 7,395. The S&P 500 climbed 24 points to 778. The Nasdaq gained 58 points to 1,462.
