As fashion retailers fight to survive in a recession, the direct selling business is booming in the UK. Direct selling is worth almost 3 billion dollars in the UK alone, according to the Direct Sales Association. One direct sales clothing company is enjoying success by selling its product through house parties. Captain Tortue, is a French designer clothing range for women and children. The company first launched in 2004, the collections are sold exclusively through agents at house parties or fund raisers. They say the average spend per customer is around 150 dollars and agents can earn up to 150,000 dollars a year depending on how hard they work.
