UN: 50,000 civilians trapped in Sri Lanka conflict

As Sri Lanka's army pursues a final offensive to crush the Tamil Tigers' decades-long insurgency, the United Nations has warned that 50,000 civilians are still trapped in the crossfire, stranded in the narrow strip of jungle still held by the rebels.
