The Sri Lankan government has refused to allow a ceasefire in its offensive against the Tamil Tiger rebels, despite pressure from the international community. As Sri Lanka's government pursues its offensive to crush the rebels, Tamil refugees from the conflict, now living abroad, can only look on powerless.
